The spirit of St. Dominic’s poverty:

1. Not being unreasonably attached to material goods.
2. Not giving undue importance to acquiring wealth.
3. Being more interested in material common good of community for which we are responsible than for our own.
4. Working for the advancement of the marginalized, the poor, the destitute, etc.
5. Avoid unnecessary material luxury and ostentation
6. Trust that God will provide
7. Exercise a preference for the poor, especially in the spiritual works of mercy and in our socializing.

"Restore all things in Christ."        Today we celebrate the feast of Saint Pius X, our patron.       It is good to look back and see the first of St. Pius' encyclicals. This encyclical letter which began his pontificate gave the bishops his mission and goal which can be summed up in this short sentence: to restore all things in Christ.      It’s an interesting letter that we can profit from. At the beginning, he expresses his doubts — he says he sees the pontificate as a difficult burden that he can’t bear alone. He then says but I have accepted because I know it is from God, and God will help me to bear this burden and get through this difficulty. He didn’t jump into the pontificate thinking it would be a breeze but that it would be very difficult. We are often faced with difficult tasks — what is our response? Catholic Priest Leads Rosary and Performs Exorcism at Idaho State Capitol

On the morning of Monday, July 26th, the members of the Satanic Temple of Idaho gathered on the front steps of the Idaho State Capitol building to deliver what they called “ Idaho's first Satanic Prayer at the Idaho Statehouse.” Quick Facts: The Satanic Temple (TST) of Idaho became an official chapter in August 2020. Among their holiday observances, they celebrate their Chapter anniversary on August 17th. All public reservations at the Capitol Building are public knowledge and can be viewed up to 6 months in advance online. Somebody noticed the TST reservation scheduled for 10:30A.M. and the word began to spread.  A Traditional Catholic group called " Tradition, Family, Property"  organized a public rosary in response to the satanic prayer event, which they scheduled for 6:00pm of the same evening.  Some Catholics felt that it was important to be at the Capitol building offering prayers of reparation at the same time that the TST was conducting their prayers.
